NIACE responds to final report of FE professionalism review

23rd October 2012

NIACE has responded to the final report of the independent review panel – Professionalism in Further Education – published on 23 October 2012. One of the outcomes from Lord Lingfield’s review is the creation of a Guild that will give more autonomy to the sector.

David Hughes, NIACE Chief Executive, said:

“NIACE is pleased that the proposal led by the Association of Colleges (AoC) and Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP), and of which NIACE is a part, has been successful in moving onto the next stage of development.

We have always been keen on employers and practitioners coming together to agree strategies for developing the quality and professionalism of the workforce in further education. And we have been pleased with the emphasis in the discussions about the need and desire to focus on learners and learning.

NIACE will continue to support the development of the new Guild, making sure that learners’ interests are kept at the forefront, as well as ensuring that the diversity of learning, the diversity of the workforce and the diversity of providers is reflected in the new Guild.”
