Transforming Lives Awards – Nominations now open!

17th April 2014

Celebrating teachers, trainers and tutors who help adults change their lives through learning.

NIACE in partnership with NOCN and the Institute for Learning (IfL) are this year launching the Transforming Lives Awards for teachers, trainers and tutors in England. The new Awards will recognise the skills, expertise and dedication of teachers, trainers and tutors who have inspired adults to use learning to change their lives for the better. Without this support, many learners believe that they would not have gone on to lead successful and rewarding lives.

Karen Woods, a 2013 Adult Learners’ Week award winner and author of seven books, said:

“My tutor, she’s a big part of my journey. Sitting down meeting her, she became an instant friend. There wasn’t the barrier like there was at school where that’s the teacher, that’s the student…it was an instant friendship. She never takes the full praise for what she’s done for me, but she’s changed my life.”

So to make sure an inspirational teacher, trainer or tutor you know receives the recognition they deserve – whether they have taught you or they are a colleague – nominate them for a Transforming Lives Award. Any teacher, trainer or tutor working in colleges, schools, universities, community settings or in a workplace can be nominated.

The awards will be presented during Adult Learners’ Week at a special ceremony on Thursday 19 June 2014.

Nominations close 5pm Thursday 8 May 2014
