Mental health and employment service pilots launched by the government, reports the Telegraph

17 July 2014

The DWP are implementing four pilot schemes involving earlier mental health assessments and treatment, reports the Telegraph.
Suggestions of adding mental health treatment to mandated activities on ESA have been discussed by Conservative politicians, but the BBC reports it remains an ‘idea’ for the future.

The first of four mental health and employment pilots is being trialled at four jobcentres – Durham and Tees valley, Surrey and Sussex, Black Country and Midland Shires, giving ESAclaimants early access to ‘talking therapies’ with employment support.

The pilots aim to test ways of combining treatment for mental health problems with employment support.
