Directions to Learning and Work Institute, Leicester
The main office is situated at 21 De Montfort Street.
There is only one train station serving the city of Leicester which has direct services to London, Birmingham, Coventry and Sheffield. On arriving at Leicester, follow the directions below. Taxis are always available.

When leaving the train station, turn left and proceed up London Road until you reach a pedestrian crossing (which is located outside a restaurant/bar). Cross over to the opposite side of London Road, and continue up London Road. The first road you come to on your right hand side is De Montfort Street. The Learning and Work Institute office is located approximately 100 yards along the road on the right hand side, exactly opposite the Belmont House Hotel.
Learning and Work Institute encourages all visitors to travel by public transport. However, if travelling by car is unavoidable, please follow the directions below. Please note the section on car parking.
From the M1: Exit at Junction 21 and head towards Leicester. At the first roundabout turn right, and then at the second roundabout turn left onto the A563 (south and east) the Fosse Park shopping centre is on your left.
(*)Follow signs for Wigston and Oadby. At the end of the A563 is a large roundabout, turn left onto the A6 (racecourse on your right). Carry straight on, following signs for city centre, railway station, University. Go straight over a small roundabout (Victoria Park is on your left). At the next set of traffic lights you will see the big wrought iron gates of Victoria Park. Turn left here on to Granville Road. There is a pay and display public car park on your left hand side for which there are two entrances: one just past the pedestrian crossing, and the other further down the road where it bends to the right. This is the most suitable car park if you are visiting the De Montfort Street Offices.
From the M69: the M69 comes to an end at the same roundabout as Junction 21 of the M1. Go straight over this roundabout, and then at the second roundabout turn right. At the third roundabout turn left onto the A563 (south and east) the Fosse Park shopping centre is on your left. Follow directions as given above (*).
From A6 South (Market Harborough): Follow A6 to city centre, then follow signs for Oadby. Go straight over large roundabout (racecourse on your left). Carry straight on following signs for railway station and University. Go straight over small roundabout (Victoria Park on your left). At the next set of traffic lights you will see the big wrought iron gates of Victoria Park. Turn left here on to Granville Road. There is a pay and display public car park on your left hand side for which there are two entrances: one just past the pedestrian crossing, and the other further down the road where it bends to the right. This is the most suitable car park if you are visiting the De Montfort Street Offices. For the car park most suitable for Renaissance House continue along Granville Road, following it round to the right on to Regent Road. Continue down Regent Road and cross four sets of traffic lights. At the next junction turn right on to Duke Street and the access to NCP car park is on your left.
From Nottingham (alternative to M1): Out of Nottingham on the A606 and straight onto the A46. Follow signs for Leicester city centre. This brings you onto Melton Road leading onto Belgrave Road. At the first large roundabout go straight on. At the second roundabout (and flyover) turn left onto St Matthew’s Way. Continue straight onto set of traffic lights and another roundabout. Take the third exit onto St George’s Way (St George’s retail park on your left). Follow the signs for the railway station. Follow the road round keeping in the middle lane, go over next two sets of traffic lights. At the second set of traffic lights, the police station is on your right and the road bears to the left. Continue through the next two sets of traffic lights past the railway station on your left. There is a pedestrian crossing just past the station, turn right just after this into De Montfort Street.
To get to the public car park most suitable for the De Montfort Street Offices, proceed down De Montfort Street until you reach the junction with Regent Road. Turn left at these traffic lights and follow the road to the top. Just as the road begins to bend left you will see the gates to the car park entrance straight ahead of you (warning: the big gates on the right hand side are for De Montfort Hall and not for the car park).
A limited number of spaces are allocated for official visitors on both sites
- To reserve a visitor’s space you must advise your named contact person in advance of your meeting. A reserved sign will be placed within the space allocated for you on your arrival.
- Learning and Work Institute cannot guarantee that a space will be available, however will try our utmost to accommodate.

How do I get to Learning and Work Institute from the Car Park?
From Victoria Park pay & display car park to De Montfort Street (recommended): you need to cross over Granville Road and proceed down the tree-lined, pedestrian area called New Walk. Continue down New Walk until you reach Learning and Work Institute on your right hand side (crossing two roads on your way - Learning and Work Institute is on the corner of the second road).

The London Office is five minutes walk from Vauxhall Station. Upon arrival at number “Eighty9”, please take the lift to the third floor and follow the sign to “Leaning and Work Institute”.
- Heathrow Airport: Take Piccadilly line to Hyde Park and change to the Victoria Line to Vauxhall station.
- Gatwick Airport: Gatwick Express runs a direct service to London Victoria station every 15 minutes. Then transfer on the Victoria line to Vauxhall station.
- Victoria Line - Vauxhall Station, fare zone 1/2
- Take Exit 1 to Albert Embankment. At the crossing, cross over Vauxhall Bridge road and walk past the MI6 building (big glass fronted building) and number 89 Albert Embankment is the next building along.
- South East: M2
- From South (Brighton, Gatwick): M23 and A21
- From South West: M3 and A3
- From the West: M4 and M40
- From the North: M1 and A1M
- From the East: M11 and M25
- From Kings Cross or Euston Station - Victoria line south to Vauxhall station
- Waterloo International: change to overland trains or tube to Vauxhall station
- Victoria Station: change to tube – Victoria line south to Vauxhall station
If you need car parking and are staying at a hotel, you should contact them direct. For people wishing to park close to the Inclusion Office, car parking is available a few minutes away in Tinworth Street and is subject to availability. Fees are: £5 for 2-6 hours or £7 per day. Spaces are limited and cannot be reserved.
Please note Inclusion is within the congestion charge zone. You can pay the congestion charge either in advance or on the day of travel, before, during or after your journey. The charge is £8 if you pay by 10.00pm on the day of travel or £10 if you pay between 10.00pm until midnight on the day of travel. From the East on the M4: Exit junction 29 Cardiff (A48M) and follow A48M for approximately 4 miles. Under flyover, go through lights and take next left turn A4119 sign posted Llandaff/Sophia Gardens, turn left at T junction and left at next lights/junction (approx 1/4 mile) into Cathedral Road. Learning and Work Institute Cymru is approximately 2/3 mile on your right just after the traffic lights. Parking available at Sophia Gardens (left at the traffic lights).
From the West on the M4: Exit junction 33 and follow the A4232 towards Cardiff Docks, exit A4232 at Leckwith sign posted City Centre. Pass Leckwith Athletics Stadium and go through 1st lights and turn right at 2nd set into Wellington Street. Follow for approximately 1/4 mile and turn left at 2nd set of lights into Cathedral Road. Learning and Work Institute Cymru is approximately 200yds on the left just before the lights. Parking available at Sophia Gardens (right at the traffic lights)
From the North on the A470: At Gabalfa interchange follow route west sign posted A48 Port Talbot and city centre. Go through the lights and take next turn A4119 sign posted Llandaf/Sophia Gardens, turn left at T junction and left at next lights/junction (approx 1/4 mile) into Cathedral Road. NIACE Dysgu Cymru is 2/3 mile on your right just after the traffic lights. Parking available at Sophia Gardens (left at the traffic lights).
