Take part in this year’s festival of learning10 May 2016
There’s still time for businesses and employees to get involved with this year’s Festival of Learning by listing an event, nominating someone or a project for an award, becoming a partner, or even registering themselves to learn something new.
The Festival of Learning campaign, run by the Learning & Work Institute, encourages people of all ages to take part in learning and celebrates the impact that lifelong learning can have on personal and professional development.
Learning events can simply be uploaded to the website. These can be taster sessions, open days or ‘have a go’ activities which take place in May or June 2016 and cost no more than £20 per ticket.
Festival of Learning award nominations can also be completed via the website and are open for people to nominate a person or project they believe deserves recognition for outstanding learning achievements. Award nominations will close at 5pm on Friday 20th May 2016.
Stephen Evans, Deputy Chief Executive of the Learning and Work Institute, said, “Learning has never been more important for life, work and health. The nominations we receive each year demonstrate the life changing opportunities that learning brings, for people of all ages, from all walks of life.
The Festival of Learning is part-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) to help publicise ESF activities and outputs. The ESF is a European Union initiative that supports activities to improve employment opportunities, promote social inclusion and invest in skills. The ESF is investing over £2.5 billion in England in the 2014-2020 programme. Funding will be used to
help young people, jobseekers and inactive people access employment;
tackle barriers to work faced by disadvantaged people; and
invest in education, skills and lifelong learning.
