Deputy Director for Research and Development
Joe Dromey joined Learning and Work Institute from IPPR where he was a Senior Research Fellow, focusing on employment and skills.
He has over a decade of experience working on employment and skills. His first job was as an employment advisor on a welfare to work programme, supporting over 100 long term unemployed adults to progress into work.
Joe spent three years as head of policy and research at the Involvement and Participation Association, a charity focused on promoting employee voice and engagement. Prior to joining IPPR, Joe worked as a political advisor to the Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills.
Joe has extensive experience of local government. He worked as a senior policy officer in local government for three years. Joe has been a Councillor at a London borough since 2014, and he is currently the Cabinet Member with responsibility for employment and skills.
Joe is passionate about both supporting access to work, improving the quality of work and promoting lifelong learning.
