Supporting looked after children and care leavers in Further Education
This training session is for college staff who support young people in and leaving care.
The session will introduce delegates to two new resources developed by Learning and Work Institute. The first is a guide for colleges on some of the practical measures that can be put in place to improve the support for and outcomes of young people in and leaving care.
The second is a set of tailorable resources which designated leads for looked after children and care leavers can use in training sessions for non-specialist staff. These materials will help participants to raise awareness of care leavers’ experiences and support needs across all college staff.
The event will provide information and context for participants but will also be interactive, enabling participants to try out activities and network with colleagues from other organisations.
